New Years Eve Cycle

The last club spin of 2011 will take place at 11am on new years eve leaving from St.Josephs Boys National School  Abbeytown. It would be great to round off our first year with a nice spin involving as many members as possible. It is hoped that we have enough for three groups so there'll be a level for everyone.
If ye have any cycling friends or relations they are more than welcome.
See ye there!!

The Davey Cup will be presented to the fastest rider on the day. Last man to hold this trophy is none other than local time trial legend Michael Devins. Prize giving in Austies, after the event.

New club Kit

Hope everyone enjoyed the Christmas Party!
With good attendance on the night and with a vote for the new club jersey everyone got a chance to choose their favourite. Thanks to everyone who submitted a design we appreciate the time and effort that people took to come up with their draft designs and with over 15 different designs there were lots to choose from. The new club kit won the vote by a large majority receiving over half the votes. We will have pictures of the new design once it has been submitted and passed by Cycling Ireland. We will receive some more sample jerseys so everyone can get their correct fit before ordering. Keep a look out on the blog or facebook we will post a venue and date where you can try on the samples.

Innisfree Wheelers Xmas Charity Cycle

Innisfree Wheelers will stage their Annual Christmas Spin in aid of  charity this year on Sunday 11th December. This year the Innisfree Wheelers have joined with the Sligo Lions Club in order to stage their event. Sligo Lions club organise over 200 Christmas food hampers each year which are distributed by St.Vincent de Paul and Sligo social services in Sligo town and county. The Charity Cycle is open to all cyclists who are capable of cycling 40km and they will use the soon to be known "The Lough Gill Cycle Loop"as their route for the cycle. For those who are not familiar with it the route is from Sligo I.T to Dromahair and back to Sligo via Dooney Rock. Hopefully the weather will be in favour for all the cyclists taking part as it can be slightly unpredictable at this time of year.

Entry Fee will be €10 with all proceeds going to the Sligo Lions Club Appeal.

Christmas Party and Weekly Spins:

Christmas Party:
The club will hold a 'very informal' Christmas Party in Dalys, on 16th December at 8.30pm.  Members are encouraged to come for a bit of craic and it is hoped that voting will take place for the Club Jersey.  Three versions have been chosen as a shortlist and members can vote on the night for their favourite.

Weekly Spins:
Due to the poor condition of the road at Abbeytown, the Tuesday night spins won't take place for the next few weeks.  However, we are looking into the possibility of running spinning sessions using turbo trainers.  If anyone with their own trainer is interested in taking part please reply here as we need to know if its a goer.
The Sunday spins are continuing to be a success leaving from the Boys School at 9.30am.  In time may be pushed back as we get further into winter due to fog, frost etc.

Club Sponsor

Club sponsor:
The club is now in the process of finding a sponsor to help subsidise the cost of the club kit.  It is hoped that we can find a main sponsor which will go on the front of the shirt and side of the shorts.  If we can find one or two other sponsors to go on the jersey it will further reduce the cost to members.  With the growing popularity of cycling and the interest in our club, this would be a great opportunity for positive exposure.  The club hopes where possible, that the sponsors should come from the town or local area.  If you know of anyone please don't hesitate to drop us a line at curlieuwheelerscc@gmail.com.

Club Hats:
There are  still some club hats remaining at €10.  If anyone still hasn't got one or if anyone that did the Leisure cycle and  didnt receive a hat email curlieuwheelerscc@gmail.com

Cycling Ireland membership for 2012 can be renewed online from next Monday 28th.  If you log into the CI website using the password that they sent you to your email address, you can renew your own membership using a laser card.  Most members have used their chance at the introductory rate so we will now have to pay 25 euro for a 2012 leisure license.  Those who haven't paid for 2011, the introductory rate of 15 will apply.  For those wishing to enter competitions next year, a full competition license will cost 120 euro.  However a one day competition license can be purchased for races for 10 euro if you don't think you will be entering too many races!!!
Cycling Ireland have asked us to renew or join up using their online service.  Therefor, it is up to members to renew their own CI affiliation.  Those of you who had problems with your password should find that the matter is resolved as Aaron spoke to CI on Friday to try to sort the problem.
Along with the 10 euro to CI for 2011, we asked members to pay an additional 10 euro towards the club.  This was essential for start up costs such as meeting venue rental, Cycling Ireland affiliation fees, club logo design and the 50k launch cycle costs.  If you have not paid the 10 euro for 2011, we would be grateful if you could include it with the 2012 club contribution of 20 euro.  This contribution is vital as the club will have to pay an increased fee of  150 euro plus an additional 140 euro which must be paid to the Connacht Cycling Union.  To clarify, the 2012 membership will be 25 euro paid directly to Cycling Ireland and 20 euro towards the club.  The 20 euro can be given to any of the committee members.
