The Eire Og Cycling Club will be holding a summer league
The league is open to cyclists from all cycling & triathlon clubs in Sligo and the surrounding areas. Riders must have a minimum of a club competition license in order to take part in the league, otherwise they will have to purchase a 1 day license.
The league will consist of 6 events with 4 to count towards the overall and points awarded for marshall duties.
 Dates for the races are as follows:  more venues will be listed shortly.

Summer Cycling League Rules
1: The league is open to all members of cycling and Triathlon Clubs in Sligo and its surrounding counties aged 16 years and over. Other riders wishing to participate must obtain permission from the organiser.

2: Riders must hold a valid Cycling Ireland license at a minimum level of “club competition

3: Riders without a valid license can obtain a 1 day license for individual races in the league.

4: The league will be held on open roads and all competitors must obey the rules of the road. Riders found to be breaking these rules or riding in a dangerous manner will be subject to penalty, which may include disqualification from an individual race or from the entire series.  Decisions made on this matter will be made by the organisers and are final. Riders must obey marshalls instructions.

5: Hard shell cycling helmets are compulsory, no helmet – no race.

6: Earphones, Ipods, MP3 players etc. Are strictly forbidden in all events. Riders found to be using these are subject to automatic disqualification.

7: Tribars are not allowed in all events. Facilities will be available at the start of races to remove tribars if necessary and replace after the event.

8: Sign on for individual races will close 15 minutes before the start. Riders who fail to sign on will be refused race entry.

9: Riders must wear their own club or team racing jersey or a plain jersey. Pro team jerseys are not permitted under Cycling Ireland rules.

10: The league will consist of 6 events. 5 handicap road races & 1 “2-up” time trial. Points will be awarded to all race finishers. A riders best 5 finishes will count towards their overall league position. Riders are expected to marshal at least 1 event. If a rider cannot marshal an event they must provide a suitable replacement for marshalling duties. A rider may ride all 6 events if they wish provided they provide the necessary marshal cover. 
Points will be awarded to riders for marshalling duties; points for replacement marshals will not be awarded.

11: Road races will be run on a handicap basis with riders of similar abilities riding in the same groups. All riders will be given a fair and equal chance of competing and obtaining maximum points in the league. Handicap decisions are final.

12: The 2 up TT event will be raced on regular road bikes without tribars. Riders will be paired so that stronger riders will compete with weaker riders. The time will be taken as that of the second finishing rider. Double points will be awarded for the 2 up TT event. Drafting amongst opposing teams in this event is forbidden and will result in disqualification from this round of the league.

13: Points will be awarded for individual rounds as follows, 
First rider over the line receives 20 points; second rider 19, third rider 18 descending in 1 point increments as far as 11th place. All riders finishing in 11th place or lower will receive 10 points. Riders who start a race but fail to finish due a mechanical mishap will receive 5 points provided they have covered 50% or more of the race distance.Riders who marshal at an event will receive 10 points.

14: Entry for the entire league is €30. Entry for a single event is €10. In order for riders to be eligible for overall prizes in the league they must have signed up to compete in the full series of races. Entry fee can be paid on the team store page or on the evening of the first event.
